Literature

What is literature? Literature is commonly described as anything from creative writing and imagination that includes works of poetry, fiction, drama and nonfiction. It seemingly represent language, cultures and tradition. Accordingly literature is more significant than any cultural or historical artifact. I love literature it widened my knowledge about related experience.Literature has literary devices, this devices will determine, interpret, analyze,identify, and recognize the work of the author. Both literary elements and methods can be fall to literary device.
  • Literary elements-its all about identifying the whole characteristics of the text. It represents the elements of story telling. Every story has its theme, settings, conflict and more.
  • Literary Techniques-they represent and deliberate phrases and convey some meanings in some singles text not the whole text of the story.
  • Literary Terms-refers to the words themselves it identify and designate literary elements and literary techniques.

Poetry-consist of rhythmical composition, its an art of literary work that expresses great imagination. Its written with the accordance of verse and meters...Its a piece a poem in other words.

Fiction refers to a written imagination and narration. The story is being invented or a made-up story only. There's no actuality of this kind....

e.g. novels, short stories.

Drama-its a dramatic art and representation that involves dialogue with some characters. The story is being acted with some characters.

e.g. stage play

Non-fiction-refers to facts and reality, its not imaginative but deals with real happenings.

e.g. Biography, history

Glossary and Usage

Analogy is an extension of similarities or comparison to two things. It can also based on the resemblance of any situations, events, shape, and meanings.
The examples are:


  • Shampoo is to hair as detergents are to clothes
  • Teachers are to students as Doctors are to patients
  • Fingers are to Hands, toes are to feet
  • Dolls are to girls as toys are to boys


Antonyms are words that has opposite meaning to another.

  • e.g. Ugly is an antonym of beautiful
  • fast-slow
  • rich-poor
  • sad-happy

e.g. in sentence: Good friend is happy to see you win and feel sad when see you lose.

Synonyms are the words that has similar or near meaning.

  • e.g. happy-glad
  • mad-upset
  • pretty-beautiful
  • clear-pellucid

e.g. in sentence: I am happy to see you. Or I am glad to see you

Colloquialisms are expressions that is not formal, often used in an casual conversation

  • car-ride
  • house-pad
  • job-slave
  • wife-old lady
  • ball-chain
  • tough titty-bad luck

e.g. in a sentence: I really need to get my own ride soon, its hard to get a job without it. Or I really need to get my own car soon, its hard to get a job without it.

Homophones

Homophones or homonyms are the words that are in the same sounds but differ in meaning. They are pronounced the same but exact opposite in meaning. The group of words sometimes confuse us, specially when you're just hearing it. But understanding the sentence is a big help to determine the right meaning.
Examples are:
  • bawl-ball
  • nun-none
  • mettle-metal
  • heir-air
  • dear-deer
  • bear-beer
  • night-knight
  • eye-aye-I

Example of the homonyms using in the sentence:

  • The night was cold when my knight shining armor rescued me from the thieves.
  • None of us expected that my cousin will become a respected nun, it was such a miracle.
  • My mother had a problem of her left eye, But I told her to see the doctor to be checked. Now her left eye is doing great.

Kinds of Writing

Writing can be expressed in a different forms. It is an act of expression that involves symbols, signs or set of letters that illustrate meanings. In other words writing is a representation of different language in a textual medium of expression. Writing can be done by a person who desire to write called the "writer". Writing can be develop into a higher stage level. A writer can be recognized as an author of a certain famous book.
Kinds of Writing in Academic form are in the following:
  • Academic Writing- this can be normally done in a school assignments or test. It can be any of the research paper that the teacher instructed to the students.

e.g. Writing about an analysis of a certain artifacts. "Speech of Barack Obama during the health summit" or A report paper about a certain issues about drugs.

  • Journal Writing- Students are more reflective, writing about everyday activities. On this way of writing exercise, students will learn and develop their writing skills.

e.g. When I was in high school our English teacher instructed us to write a formal them book.

Creative Writing- From the word "creative" students will create an imaginary article or essay. They are very imaginative and enchanting. Readers are excited to read since the writer/students are very creative.

e.g. short stories, fictions,

  • Professional Writing- the concept of this writing is rhetoric, the writer is very skilled to invite the reader to read.

e.g. a professional writer that is earning from the article she/he writes.

Kinds Of Speech

What is a speech? Speech is an oral expression that conveys communication. Speech are commonly hear ed through a certain special program or event. Speech its an act of speaking on which it involves two sets of character, the speaker and the audience/listener.
There are three main types of speech and the following are:
  • The Informative- To inform new substantial topic and new ideas.

e.g. A Drug advocate is giving his speech on how to prevent addiction and what are the essential options to prevent this manipulative disease.

  • The Persuasive - Kind of speech that pursue and encourage people to acquire such information. Its all about convincing the audience to believe such information.

e.g. A Mayor is giving his speech with his objectives and platforms in the certain champagne. He also lays the disadvantage and advantage of voting him. This speech must sound convincing!

  • Special Occasion Speech- Kind of speech that delivers established certain objectives.

e.g. Giving some speech in a High School Graduation ceremony. It gives acknowledgements, accomplishment and praises.

To any kind of speech we the speaker must be well-prepared of the topic that we are going to deliver. Thoughts, ideas and opinions must be delivered constructively.

Preparing Our Speech

I have no idea what to write today. I have some troubles that only me can ease it. Speech and writing is one of my favorite subject matter. I want to develop it that's why I choose it as my preferences. Speech and writing are very essential in ones learning. Accordingly giving our speech do not require long topic to discuss. Here are some tips to consider in preparing your speech.
  • You need to decide and pick the main ideas, pick two to three ideas that people will remember. Listener do not like long speech, but they want a brief and concise topic. Use some simple sentences that everyone will grasp it easily.
  • Write what you like to talk, to have a short glance to it once in a while.
  • Consider the fact that your listener is listening not reading your speech, so be direct and clear.
  • Have your voice not too loud and not too low...it should be in a moderate tone that every one could hear it.
  • Additional gestures such as your hands and your eyes must also considered.
  • Pronunciation must be clearly uttered
  • Vowel and consonant must be emphasised...
  • Before delivering it, have more good practise...
  • Be ready to support your speech with supporting ideas and facts. People are listening and comprehending so never leave them confuse.
  • Use some concrete words and examples because concrete details makes people more interested to listen.
  • Lay-out your classic structure or problem solution. Before you make your conclusion.
  • Have a final virtual thoughts that will support to any of the facts that you mention.
